LBDA History

A Legacy of Development

1979

Establishment of LBDA, founded by an Act of Parliament (CAP 442) to spearhead integrated socio-economic development in the Lake Victoria Basin.

1987

Launch of the Integrated Regional Development Master Plan (1987-2005), a blueprint for development in the Lake Basin region.

2008

Alignment of LBDA’s strategic direction with Kenya Vision 2030, contributing to national development goals.

2010

Adaptation to the new governance structure following the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, positioning LBDA as a key player between National and County Governments.

 

2020

Achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, demonstrating LBDA’s commitment to quality management and excellence in service delivery.

2023

Launch of the Fifth Generation Strategic Plan (2023-2027), positioning LBDA as the pillar of socio-economic development in Kenya.
